USCS HEADLINE GUMBO NATIONALS AT GREENVILLE SPEEDWAY

From Pete Walton

GREENVILLE, MS – The Parts Plus sponsored United Sprint Car Series “Outlaw Thunder” Tour winged sprint cars www.uscsracing.com headline the two-day racing program for the Gumbo Nationals 2009 at Greenville Speedway on Friday and Saturday, November 6th and 7th. The two-night Parts Plus USCS “Gumbo Twins” sprint car event will feature a full program of sprint car racing each night. Friday’s Parts Plus USCS preliminary main event will pay $1250 to win. Saturday night’s Gumbo Nationals 30-lap Championship sprint cat finale pays $2500 to win. With bonuses for winning the “Gumbo Twins” and wins in the Parts Plus Power Dash each night, one driver could take home $4200 for their weekend’s efforts.

The Gumbo Nationals event will award National points plus points in the potent Parts Plus USCS Mid-South Thunder division. The Parts Plus USCS Mid-South Thunder Tour regional series consists of races in Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee. The event is expected to bring top winged outlaw sprint car drivers from at least eight states to Greenville Speedway.

The exotic fire breathing, alcohol burning, 700 horsepower open wheel Parts Plus USCS sprint cars weight just 1,300 pounds, and are pound for pound the World’s most powerful short track race cars. The Parts Plus USCS sprint cars will literally fly around the track surface at speeds over 120 M.P.H. It is not uncommon to see them popping “wheelies” or doing wheel stands because of the brute force of their engines and their huge 18-inch wide rear tires.

Friday night’s Outlaw sprint car action will feature a full program of winged sprint car racing that includes test and tune hot laps, the Parts Plus Power Dash, qualifying heat races (awarding passing points), B-Main/Last Chance race(s) and the Gumbo Nationals Pole Night preliminary main event. On Saturday night the sprint cars contest another full racing program including the same elements as Friday night to determine the twenty-two car field for the 30-lap Parts Plus USCS Gumbo Nationals Sprint Car Championship main event. Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas is the defending and two-time Gumbo Nationals Champion.

Additionally sharing top billing for the Gumbo Nationals are the powerful Super Late Model division and the mighty Rislone (Oil Stabilizer) USCS Modified Touring Series. Also on the two-night racing card are the Gumbo Challenge for the Street Stock and Mini Stock divisions. All four of those divisions will contest their qualifying events on Friday night with the finals on Saturday..

On Saturday night those divisions will race a Pole Dash event, plus B-Main/Last Chance races. The Super Late Models will be racing 40-laps for $5000 to win. The Rislone USCS Modifieds contest a 30-lap main-event with $2000 awarded to the winner. The Street Stock and Mini Stocks also complete their Gumbo Nationals Championship racing on Saturday night with a possible $850 on the line in the Street Stocks and $750 possible in the Mini Stock division.
