ASCS Gulf South Sets 2010 Slate

TULSA, Okla. – With the 2010 racing season just around the corner, the scheduled for the American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region has been released.

The ASCS Gulf South’s ninth year of competition is currently slated to consist of 24 nights of competition at nine different tracks throughout primarily the Gulf Coast portion of Texas along with a venture or two to the state’s mid and north portions.

The series kicks off the year with a $3,000 to win stop at Beaumont’s Golden Triangle Raceway Park on Friday, March 5, the first of seven GTRP events. The following night, March 6, the ASCS Gulf South moves on to Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX, for the $3,000 to win Third Annual Gulf Coast Nationals. A new stop on the Gulf South tour, Battleground will host the series on four occasions in 2010.

Baytown’s Houston Raceway Park is also set to host the ASCS Gulf South four times in 2010, with each event offering a $3,000 winner’s share.

The series is also set for a pair of stops at Cleveland’s 105 Motor Speedway and Willis’ Gator Motorplex.

Two stops are on the docket as well for Waco’s Heart O’ Texas Speedway, including a July 23 clash versus the ASCS Lone Star Region with the Gulf South vs. Lone Star Shootout moving on to Mesquite’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway the following night.

The series will also take to Edna’s Texana Raceway Park and Corpus Christi’s South Texas Speedway on a July 4 weekend triple that concludes at 105 Speedway.

Nineteen-year-old Aaron Reutzel of Clute, TX, reeled off an overall ASCS Regional record of 15 top-ten feature finishes in a row en route to becoming the 2009 ASCS Gulf South champion.

In its 19th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing, the American Sprint Car Series brings the best of Sprint Car racing to approximately 100 different tracks throughout 30 states and Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of a dozen different Regions throughout the nation.
