PLACERVILLE, CA –(3-20-10) – After mother nature washed away her hopes of a strong run in the Chico Mini Gold Cup last weekend, Penngrove’s Alissa Geving is gearing up to start the 2010 racing season this Saturday night. The two-time Petaluma Speedway champion will take her first green flag of the year in the Civil War Sprint Car Series which opens at Placerville Speedway in El Dorado County, California.

“I was really looking forward to Chico last week but Mother Nature had different plans I guess,” said Geving, who claimed the 2008 Civil War Series Rookie of the Year title and has won the last two track titles at her home track of Petaluma Speedway. “So now we start our season at Placerville Speedway. I love the Civil War Series and I’m looking forward to racing with the tour this year.”

Geving will be aboard her family owned Tillet Tool-Matt Cordeiro Enterprises-Pit Stop USA sprint car for Saturday’s event, one that is expected to draw nearly 40 competitors, all looking for a strong start in the popular California based race series for 360 cubic inch sprint cars. With Petaluma Speedway routinely operating on the same nights as Placerville, Geving’s appearances on the famed red clay quarter-mile have been far and few. She has competed in select Civil War Races, Golden State Challenge races and a handful of point races on the tight bullring track.

“Placerville is the one place I just haven’t had the opportunity to race at too much,” said Geving. “I like running there. It’s much different than Petaluma in the way of banking and track surface and requires an adjustment of both car and driver. We’re looking forward to it as well as the Silver Cup next week.”

While attending college, Geving stayed active in racing over the off season. At the end of the 2009 racing season she ventured to North Carolina to participate in the NASCAR Diversity Combine program. In January, Geving traveled to Tulsa, Oklahoma to compete in the famed Chili Bowl. Driving for Chris Walker and the famed Bay Muffler Racing team, Geving took to the track with some of the nations best drivers in her very first midget racing experience.

Geving will take to the track in Placerville on Saturday night as qualifying will begin at 6:30 p.m. Following this much anticipated event she will travel to the Silver Cup in Chico the following week before her return to Petaluma Speedway to begin her run at a third championship in the All Pro Series.

Alissa Geving and her entire team invite race fans to visit their race hauler following the Saturday’s event and at all events in which they compete. Geving is a competitor who thoroughly loves meeting the fans of all ages and signing autographs. She encourages youngsters to follow their dreams in life while pursuing higher education during their climb to the top.
