Local vocalist Shauna Lea to present season opener National Anthem

PLACERVILLE, CA – The track has been groomed to perfection, most of the competitors have loaded their haulers and are prepared to begin the 2010 racing season at Placerville Speedway Saturday night in grand fashion with the Hoosier Tires Civil War Race Series.

Just prior to the much anticipated first green flag of the season the National Anthem will be performed live by local artist Shauna Lea of Shingle Springs. A native of El Dorado County, Lea is the lead singer of Hired Guns, a country band that follows the influences of well known artists such as Sarah Evans, Faith Hill, Martina McBride and more.

In addition to previous appearances at some of Placerville Speedway’s high profile events, Lea has been a requested performer of her unique and powerful rendition of the National Anthem at numerous sporting events. She recently performed for the opening of the Gladiator Challenge fights at Red Hawk Casino in Shingle Springs and has several additional dates scheduled with the promotional sporting events in the months to come.

Action will begin at Placerville Speedway at 6:30 on Saturday night with qualifying for the winged sprint cars followed by opening ceremonies and a complete race program. The event is the opener for the popular Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Sprint Car Series as well as the Regional Dwarf Car Silver-Gold Cup Challenge event.

With the combined divisions, entries could reach the 80 mark Saturday night and seating is expected to be limited long before the first green flag drops. Adult tickets for this special event will be $15, Juniors will be $10 and children are $5.00.

Prior to Saturday’s race, race fans can get an early look at the new #20n sprint car of Placerville’s James Sweeney. Sweeney’s car will be on display during the day at RPM Photo Art and the Executive Barber Studio on lower historic main street. Official Placerville Speedway schedules will be on hand and photo opportunities with one of El Dorado County’s most popular drivers will be available. Sweeney is expected to be on located at the 10 a.m. hour and additional drivers may be added to the event by start time.
