IMPORTANT RULE CHANGE: USCS Goodyear tire rule change effective immediately

From Pete Walton

Atlanta, GA – April 20, 2010 – Due to the knowledge gained from early season USCS events and other data gathered from other early season races around the country, the United Sprint Car Series has made the following decision in regards to tire compound rules: The USCS has decided to limit the Right Rear Goodyear 17.0 x 15 x 15 racing tires that the series will compete on in the future to two compounds. Those compounds are the G200 and G300 tire compounds.

Those G200 and G300 right rear tires will be available at each and every USCS event for the right rear of competitor’s cars. This rule is effective immediately.

USCS Founder and President, Pete Walton stated, “We discussed this with the Goodyear www.racegoodyear.com management and they have agreed to this change. We felt it was in the best interest of our competitors to limit the tire compounds to reduce the amount of inventory they would need to compete on at USCS events. After what we have seen, we believe that the Goodyear G200 compound is compatible with the other SPEC tires we have utilized over the past thirteen seasons from two different manufacturers. On 90% of the track surfaces the USCS races on, I personally believe the G200 compound will be what you will see on the cars. The G300 tire compound will give them an option if the track becomes more abrasive” Walton concluded.

If anyone has already purchased (NEW ONLY) size 17.0 x 15 x 15 G100 right rear tires they can be returned to the USCS

( at no additional cost) in exchange for either the G200 or G300 tires starting Friday, April 23rd at Carolina Speedway. The USCS and Goodyear have allowed a burn off period through June 30, 2010 for competitors to use up old USCS SPEC tire inventory. After that date USCS competitors will compete on Goodyear Racing tires on both rear wheels.
