MIDGETS PART OF STOCKTON 99’s SATURDAY USAC “QUADRUPLEHEADER”

By Dick Jordan

The 2010 USAC Mopar Western Midget Series resumes Saturday at Stockton 99 Speedway in California. The unique “quadruple header” at the quarter-mile paved oval also feature USAC’s AMSOIL Western Sprint cars, Ford Focus Midgets and Ford Focus Young Guns.

The current USAC Western Midget standings are heavily populated by USAC’s National drivers due to recent National/Western events, but that will continue to change as the 2010 season progresses.

Cory Kruseman of Ventura, Calif. has risen to second in the points as a result of his recent victory at Bakersfield, Calif., while Alex Schutte of Redding, Calif. ranks seventh and Robby Josett of Agua Dulce, Calif. is eighth. Schutte scored a pair of victories on his way to third in last year’s USAC Western Midget points.

Jerome Rodela of El Monte Calif., the 2010 series runner-up, could be among favorites Saturday. His USAC career includes a 2002 victory at the Stockton oval.

Saturday’s “quadruple header” at Stockton 99 includes the USAC AMSOIL Western Sprints, Western Ford Focus and Western Ford Focus Young Guns.
