A field of 33 Midgets are scheduled to take the green flag Saturday night at Tri-State Speedway in the 58th running of the “Hut Hundred” at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind. The 100-lap race on the quarter-mile dirt oval features a three-abreast start! Saturday’s race is co-sanctioned by USAC and POWRi and Brad Kuhn of Avon, Ind. is the defending champion of both competing series.

Rain forced postponement of last Friday’s scheduled “Kevin Doty Classic” at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill. The race, co-sanctioned by POWRi and also affording points toward the 2010 USAC/SMRS Great Plains championship, is under discussion regarding rescheduling and a new date will be announced when firm.

Bobby East of Brownsburg, Ind. is the current leader in the USAC Mopar National Midget Series and will be seeking his second “Hut Hundred” victory in Saturday’s race. He won the 2004 race at the Terre Haute Action Track and is currently 22 points ahead of Tracy Hines, who won the “Hut Hundred” in 2001.

Saturday’s race marks the first time the event has been held at Tri-State Speedway, a staple of USAC’s annual “Indiana Sprint Week” in recent years. Tri-State is the fifth track to host the race, which dates back to 1954.

Darren Hagen, the 2006 race winner, is fourth in the current standings, while Dave Darland, fifth in the standings, is seeking his third “Hut Hundred” victory after 1999 and 2003 wins.
