The USAC Mopar National Midget Series will return to Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill. for the inaugural “Kevin Doty Classic” on Friday night, June 11. The race, to be co-sanctioned by POWRi and also awarding points toward the 2010 USAC/SMRS Great Plains Midget Championship, was postponed by rain on its original date, April 30.

Defending USAC and POWRI driving champion Brad Kuhn of Avon, Ind. and USAC/SMRS Champ Brad Loyet of Sunset Hills, Mo. will lead the series back to the 3/8 mile dirt oval to honor the late driver who perished in a 2005 accident at Sun Prairie, Wisc.

Jerry Coons Jr., currently fifth in the 2010 USAC Mopar National standings, won the last race at Tri-City, the 2008 DuPont Gold Crown Midget Nationals.

“We are pleased to have arrived at a date we feel will be mutually beneficial for all involved,” says USAC Competition Director Jason McCord. “

In addition to the Midgets, the night’s program also includes 410 non-wing Sprint and POWRi Micros. For more info please visit www.usacracing.com or www.tricityspeedway.net.
