REGIONAL MIDGETS EYE MAY 26 “JOHN ANDRETTI NIGHT”

By Dick Jordan

“John Andretti Night” is slated at the Indianapolis Speedrome May 26 and Dalton Armstrong of New Castle, Ind. will take the early USAC Regional Midget point lead into that event after winning Saturday night’s “Alex Pruett Memorial” at the Columbus (Ohio) Motor Speedway.

Armstrong is the early point leader in both the 2010 USAC Regional and USAC/WOMS Midget Series as a result of his 30-lap Columbus victory. Armstrong trailed Dillon Welch for three laps, then took the lead in his Bungee North America/Anderson’s Grain Beast/Mopar. He led the remaining 27 laps to beat Daniel Bedford, Welch, Cale Conley and Nick Wagner. Shane Hmiel was the fastest qualifier.

The USAC/WOMS Midget Series resumes with a June 12 race at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Mich. Highlights of Saturday’s race at Columbus will be aired on an upcoming episode of 3 Wide Life (http://www.3widelife.com/).
