AKRON, Ohio (May 17, 2010) – Fred Rahmer, Chad Payton and Jason Meyers won World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series races as the world renowned winged car series begins the busiest months of its season.

Goodyear is the Official Tire of the Outlaws Sprint Car Series and is the exclusive tire provider for the rear wheel positions of the world’s most popular sprint car program. While the front wheel positions are open to competition between tiremakers, most WoO teams use Goodyear Eagle front tires.

Rahmer and Payton both won at Williams Grove Speedway, the famous half-mile track in Mechanicsburg, Penn. Meyers’ victory came at Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Va.

Rahmer started 24th and earned his first WoO win since 2006. Sam Hafertepe led 15 laps and finished second. Daryn Pittman started 14th and finished third, followed by Joey Saldana and Steve Kinser. The entry list included 45 cars.

Chad Layton won the first night’s feature at Williams Grove, proving how tough he can be against the best drivers the WoO can offer. Saldana finished second, followed by Sammy Swindell, Lucas Wolfe and Justin Hernandez. There were 44 entries.

Jason Meyers proved the consistency of the tires provided by Goodyear’s Innovation Center in Akron, Ohio with his win at VMS. The 30-lap feature around the half-mile venue ran without a caution. Saldana, who is pretty consistent himself, finished second, followed by Donny Schatz, Kinser and Jason Sides.

Saldana finished the weekend with the championship lead, holding 2,554 points. Kinser (2,541) and Meyers (2,534) are next.
