Back to Back at Jacksonville

Sikeston, Mo (05-20-09)

If you were looking for Jerrod Hull last Friday night, you would have found him in a familiar spot. For the second week in a row Hull had the pleasure of greeting his fans, getting his picture taken, and walking home with the winner’s share at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois. Jacksonville added winged sprint car to their weekly program thanks in part to the new management of former driver, Bobby Hawks.

While the previous week’s action was with the Sprint Invader Association, this week’s round was during the standard weekly show. However, standard competition it was not, as some hard-hitting competition additionally rolled into town to take on the ¼ mile facility. Jesse Hockett and Kyle Hirst, both know for their abilities and criss-cross the country schedules decided to show up to put on the challenge.

“I am real proud of my guys, another win at Jacksonville feels real good. It was awesome to have Jesse and Kyle also show up here tonight, the more attention we can give this wonderful facility the better it will become,” noted Hull. “I know that Bobby (Hawks) has put a lot of time and effort into this place, and I am sure that he is going to be able to bring back the excitement of weekly racing at Jacksonville.”

Hull has now garnered over 40 feature victories at the Illinois facility, among those wins are a pair of Herb Barlow Memorial championships. Last year, the facility brought back one of the best local special shows, the Shaheen’s race, which they are looking forward to promoting later this year as well as the Barlow.

“Any racer will tell you that they just want to win. But every time we win at this place it is something extra special. I have a lot of loyal fans in the area, and the track suits my driving style the best,” commented Jerrod. “I am looking forward to coming back here when our schedule permits to race a few more weekly shows and possibly to hit the Herb Barlow and the Shaheen’s race.”

Following Friday’s triumph at Jacksonville, the team was prepared to take on the best at Farmington, Missouri’s St. Francois County Raceway. The dreaded “R” word kept the team from attempting a sweep of the weekend.

The team looks to load up the Heartland Trailer Manufacturing #12 Maxim presented by Axis Products and try for a three-peat at Jacksonville this weekend, and then off to St. Francois County Raceway on Saturday. Jerrod is looking to continue his streak of top 10 finishes for 2010. The team has not finished a race outside of the top 10 in the 2010 season so far, a goal the team would like to continue.

Are you on Facebook? New for Jerrod Hull Motorsports is a Facebook group page dedicated to his fans. This year marks the 5th anniversary of Hull naming his loyal followers, Hullheads. The nick-name for the fans came during a brainstorm session where the team was looking for a way to collectively describe his loyalist of fans. The Facebook page is set-up so fans can contribute well wishes, photos, and discuss all things Jerrod Hull. The page will also feature up to date results for the team, schedule changes, and press releases. Hull plans to use the page as an extension of his already successful website; www.jerrodhullmotorsports.com. Stay up to date by visiting either site today!
