MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Bobby Santos III, Justin Carver and Derek Hagar and the Carl Edwards/ RE Technologies Racing team are headed to the high banks of Iowa Speedway for Saturday’s Casey’s General Stores USAC Triple Crown “Pride of Iowa Event” presented by Pioneer Hi-bred & CDS Global. The team won the 2008 and 2009 events finished 2nd in 2007 at the 7/8-mile high-banked oval.
“I’m really excited about going to Iowa,” said Bobby Santos. “I have had success there and the Carl Edwards/ RE Technologies Racing team have had success there. I think together we have a real good shot at winning.”
Bobby Santos won the 2009 Midget race and finished second last year in the Sprint car feature. He is also the track record holder in a Midget; setting the record 2006 with a qualifying average speed of 139.553 mph.
“Iowa Speedway is fast because of its size and big sweeping corners. They did a great job designing it. With Roush/Yates Ford power, it should be pretty good weekend for the team.“
Bobby Santos III will drive the No. 199 Roush / Yates Ford entry. Teammate Derek Hagar is in 8th in points coming into Iowa. Hagar will pilot the No. 91 Conrad Sand and Gravel / Dyno Tech car. Justin Carver, who is 12th in points, will drive the No. 991 Memphis Fence / Dyno Tech Racing Engines entry.
In addition to driving for the Carl Edwards/ RE Technologies Racing team, Bobby Santos III will drive the No. 98 Midget and Sprint cars for his father, Bobby Santos Jr. The USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Cars and Mopar National Midgets will share the 7/8 Iowa Speedway oval Saturday. The Midget race is 30 laps, the Sprint race is 50 laps and the Silver Crown race is 100 laps.
