The AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series continues Sunday night at the Gropetti Automotive Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif. and the series point lead could be up for grabs in the track’s “Salute to Indy.”

Entering Saturday night’s “Salute to Indy” program at Perris, Calif., defending series champion Mike Spencer held a slim 12-point lead over Danny Sheridan. Spencer missed the most recent feature event, at Perris last month, due to a heat race accident, while Sheridan finished second in that race to close the gap.

Spencer posted a third-place finish at Tulare last November, while Sheridan failed to crack the “top-10” at Tulare in 2009.

In 2009, Matt Mitchell, Garrett Hansen and Jon Stanbrough all posted USAC/CRA Sprint wins at the Tulare oval. The wins by Mitchell and Stanbrough were their first in USAC/CRA racing.

Sunday’s events at Tulare include an on-track and off-track display of vintage supermodifieds.
