H.O.S.S. WINGED SPRINT CARS RETURN TO ANDERSON

ANDERSON, Ind. (June 10, 2010) – Anderson Speedway returns to racing action this weekend when the H.O.S.S. Winged Sprint Cars invade Anderson Speedway on Saturday, June 12. The racing lineup will also feature UMRA Midgets, Figure 8’s and Front Wheel Drives Oval.

The H.O.S.S. Winged Sprint Car Series will compete in their second event at Anderson Speedway in the last few weeks. They were part of the Pay Less Little 500 week on Wednesday, May 26 with a co-sanctioned event with Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Cars.

2009 series runner-up Jimmy McCune earned the victory, his second consecutive checkered flag at the quarter-mile oval. Drivers that have claimed wins during the early part of the H.O.S.S. season include Aaron Pierce (Salem), Eddie Kelly (Shady Bowl), Dave Steele (Winchester) and McCune.

In the Figure 8’s, Rod Phipps extended his points lead with collecting his second victory of the season last weekend. He holds a 116 point advantage over Curtis Chapman. Third place is Jason Pitts with Bruce McFall and Jeff Swinford completing the top five.

The UMRA Midgets will race at Anderson for this first time this season. Heading into this weekends action, Ron Combs leads Terry Goff by 26 points. The remainder of the top five includes Patrick Wolf, Jason Goff and Robbie Roland.

It’s a battle of the Braggs at the top of the Front Wheel Drive Oval point standings. Gary Sr. leads his son by five points with Chris Teepe in third, Frank Gasho in fourth and most recent feature winner Jerry Dane in the fifth position.

Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. on Saturday with racing beginning at 8. Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
