Fisher Files – Back on Track at Jacksonville!

By Bill W

June 15, 2010 – Josh Fisher had been struggling to get a handle on the Rick Northrop #83 at the Jacksonville Speedway in Illinois on Friday nights. Last Friday, that changed as he ran a strong race to finish fourth in the 410 program at the tightly banked ¼ mile oval. With Jacksonville off this Friday, it looks like a one-race weekend at the Lake Ozark Speedway near Eldon, Missouri on Saturday when he will pilot the family Ozark Barge & Dock Services #86.

Josh’s last trip to Illinois was tough, and he had trouble keeping the front end on the racetrack. Hard work by the team gave him a good handling car on Friday. “They changed quite a bit on the car, and it definitely improved the balance,” says the Smithton, Missouri driver. “They moved the rear-end back a bit, and I think it was a whole lot of little things that made a difference. I want to thank them for the work they put into it.”

Starting third in his heat, Josh would ride home in the same spot at the checkers. “It was so much easier to drive,” he says. “I had a problem before just keeping it on the track, but Friday, it was really good. They have it going good now. The car was pretty good in the heat, and we drew a good number. That put us in good position for the feature.”

Starting inside row four, Josh advanced three spots early and maintained to a fourth place finish in a tight race among the leaders. “There was really nothing on the bottom,” he says of the track conditions. “It was all blown to the wall and that’s where we were all running. Wherever you passed up to at the beginning was pretty much where you were going to finish. It was tough to pass.”

Josh was in position, but didn’t see an opportunity to move up. “We were right there with the top three (Joey Moughan, Jim Moughan, Ben Wagoner),” he says. “It was nose to tail there most of the way. It was really close.”

Josh is looking forward to getting back in the Northrop 410, but it will be three weeks before he gets the opportunity, though he will pilot the team’s 360 on June 25 with the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders. “Jacksonville has this weekend off, but we look forward to getting back there on the 25th and racing with the Sprint Invaders,” he says. “Of course, we’ll hit Lake Ozark Speedway this Saturday after they rained out last week.”
