DODGE CITY, Ks. (June 14, 2010) – In a town renowned for shootouts, quick hands and famous outlaws, Sammy Swindell and Joey Saldana proved to be the fastest of the fast and each won a World of Outlaws sprint car feature event during the Boot Hill Showdown at Dodge City Raceway Park.

Swindell’s win was his first at the track, while Saldana won for the fifth time on the 3/8-mile dirt oval.

In old Dodge City, when a group of outlaws reached town, they called for Bat Masterson, Wyatt Earp and the other members of the legendary Dodge City Peace Commission. But in modern Dodge City, when the Outlaws roll into the city, they reach for their world famous Goodyear tires.

Goodyear is the Official Tiremaker for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and is the sole tire provider for the rear wheel positions on the racecars. The front wheel positions are open to competition among tire manufacturers. However, just as Earp and Masterson once reached for their trusty Colt revolvers, so too do most of the modern day Outlaws reach for Goodyear tires to cover their front wheel positions.

Swindell won the first main event of the Showdown weekend. Saldana finished second, followed by Jason Sides, Kerry Madsen and Jason Meyers. Saldana turned in the quickest lap during time trials, averaging 106.024 mph.

Saldana’s victory in the second feature was his fifth of 2010. Meyers finished second after leading twice, followed by Lucas Wolfe, Steve Kinser and Paul McMahon. McMahon had the fastest lap in qualifying, averaging 106.349 mph.

Saldana leads the race for the WoO championship with 3,504 points. Meyers is second with 3,472 points.
