(June 30, 2010) – The Southern Ontario Sprints tour fires back up this Friday, July 2 at Ohsweken Speedway as one of four sanctioning groups in the $3,000-to-win Northern Summer Nationals.
Keith Dempster of Alton continues to lead the way in the SOS championship chase on the strength of a feature win in round one in May at Brighton, and third back at Brighton on June 19. Consecon’s Tyler Rand is second in the standings, followed by Glenn Styres of Ohsweken, Sutton driver Bob Crawford and Joyceville’s Rick Wilson.
Friday’s event will feature Ohsweken’s weekly Corr/Pak Sprint Car division drivers against the Southern Ontario Sprints, ASCS Patriots, and ASCS Sprints on Dirt. Full points towards the SOS championship will be awarded to all SOS members competing in the event.
Active Sprint Car drivers with SOS feature wins at Ohsweken on their resumes include Keith Dempster (8), Rick Wilson (6), Glenn Styres (6), Warren Mahoney (4), John Riegling (3), Chuck Hebing (2), Tom Huppunen (2), Mike Ling (2), Adam West (2), Bob Crawford (1), Dustin Daggett (1), Mike Galadja (1), Kevin Job (1), Kyle Patrick (1), and Mike Stelter (1).
A large car count is expected for this big event, which also features Ohsweken’s regular Thunder Stocks, Mini Stocks, and Bombers. Spectator gates open at 6:00 p.m., and racing begins at 7:45 p.m.!
