RYAN LITT: BACK TO MICHIGAN

By Tommy Goudge
(June 30, 2010) – Ryan Litt and the #07L BS&B Radiator/OTC Tools Sprint Car team had a good run at Auto City Speedway on Saturday night in the MustSeeRacing.com Xtreme Sprint Series event. This weekend they’re looking forward to racing at two tracks where they’ve had success in the past.

The day started off well at Auto City with Ryan running the second fastest time in practice. Despite a tight condition in time trials, Ryan’s lap of 12.967 seconds was good enough for quick time at the uniquely-shaped 7/16’s mile track. Rain delayed the event for two hours just as Ryan’s twenty lap qualifying race was about to start.

As high point-getter through time trials and heat races, Ryan started tenth in the qualifying race and made it to eight by the end. After another inversion, Ryan started sixth in the twenty lap feature and went to work trying to move up.

A restart on lap twelve found Ryan making contact with Troy DeCaire in turn two, which allowed Mike Ling to sneak by both drivers and into third. The move was negated when a spin by another competitor brought the caution back out before the lap was complete. The next restart found Ryan and fellow Canadian Ling dicing for the fourth spot.

“I noticed (Troy) slow up so I tried going to the outside and my left front clipped his bumper,” says Ryan. “I just was too loose coming off (the corners) to do anything, but I was able to slip by Ling.”

Ryan was not able to make up any more ground before the twenty lap feature ended, and settled for a fourth place finish.

“I think because everyone’s tires were old, and because of the rain the track was real slick,” says Ryan, “So clean air definitely helped out big time.”

This weekend the team will travel back to the Flint area for Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints series events at the 4/10 mile Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan Friday, July 2nd, and Owosso, Michigan’s 3/8 mile Owosso Speedway Saturday, July 3rd.

Ryan has competed in twelve features at the high banked Dixie track, including two feature wins. Some of Ryan’s first winged Sprint Car races came at Dixie, and since getting his first top five finish there on September 8, 2006, Ryan has finished no worse than seventh – a streak of eight races.

“I’m looking forward to Dixie,” says Ryan. “We always run good and they always have a large crowd. The configuration of the track always provides some of the best racing all year long. Everyone has stepped up their game this year so fans are guaranteed to see a great night of racing.”

Ryan has competed twice at Owosso, including a feature win last year. Prior to that, he experienced mechanical problems in August 2006 and missed the feature.

“We plan to run Owosso, depending on how our night goes Friday,” says Ryan. “Last year was really my first time racing there and we pulled off a win, so we’re definitely looking to repeat. It’s one of the tracks that is tough to pass at, so we’ll be looking for a good starting spot to get into that clean air right away.”
