July 6, 2010 – The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders kick off their County Fair tour this Thursday and Friday with Iowa dates in Bloomfield and Donnellson. The visit to the Davis County Fair and the Bloomfield Speedway takes place this Thursday night, while the Lee County Fair will be in full swing in Donnellson on Friday.
The Sprint Invaders have not visited the high speed Bloomfield Speedway since 2007, when “Showtime” Kaley Gharst swept two events there. Jerrod Hull took the only other series’ event there in 2005.
Gharst also leads the all-time feature wins’ list with the series at the Lee County Speedway on the strength of a victory earlier this season. His four wins in Sprint Invaders competition top those who have won three including, Terry McCarl, Jeff Mitrisin, Matt Sutton and John Schulz. This will mark the 30th career visit for the Sprint Invaders in Donnellson.
Sutton is the current leader in the standings, holding a twenty point lead on “Flyin’” Ryan Jamison. Gharst is third ahead of Donnie Steward and Ben Wagoner. Two-time and defending champion, “Lil’ Dude” Bobby Mincer won the series’ last outing at the West Liberty Raceway on July 3. The win moved him to sixth in the standings. Justin Parrish, Jim Moughan Jr., Matt Harms and Seth Wilke round out the top ten.
Tickets are just $10 for Thursday’s show at Bloomfield with kids tickets $5. Pit gates open at 5:00 p.m. with hot laps scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with racing to follow!
