Geving up to sixth in GSC standings; Marysville Raceway up next

By Bill Sullivan

PENNGROVE, CA (7-18-10) – This Saturday night Alissa Geving and her Chicko Motorsports Sprint Car Team will join with their colleagues in the Golden State Challenge Sprint Car Series as the tour makes it’s first visit to Marysville Raceway Park in several years. The new improved surface and facility in Marysville will be a welcomed challenge for Geving following a night of mixed results in round 20 at Antioch last Saturday.
“We are really looking forward to the visit to the new Marysville Raceway Park,” said Geving. “It should be an exciting night for everything since it has been so long since the Golden State Challenge Series raced there. I haven’t had much track time there since I ran Jimmy Sills’ School and they remodeled the place so I’m really looking forward to it.”
In the most recent event at Antioch Speedway, Geving advanced another position in the Golden State Challenge point standings despite an unfortunate rollover in the A-feature that placed her 14th overall in the 30-lap event.
Earlier in the night, Geving turned the eighth fastest position in qualifying with a 12:510 second lap aboard the Tillet Tool, Pit Stop USA, Auto Repairs Unlimited #3x Maxim. In preliminary heat racing Geving finished in second place of the evening’s second heat race. She started the feature event in the eighth position. Geving was advancing through the field and working on the fifth position when the #3x suffered a rollover while running the highline of the second turn.
“We we’re a front running car for sure tonight, the crew really had it set up great,” said Geving. “Just as was getting into the top five I ran out of real estate running the high side and it ended our night with 14th. I want to thank my crew for all their hard work, we’ll come back in Marysville and try to get back up front.”
As she enters the 21st segment of the King of California Sprint Car Series, Geving is now up to the sixth position in the championship point standings. She is just 10-points out of fifth place. Geving has claimed two heat race victories in the series and has five top ten finishes in the 2010 series. Following the event at Marysville Raceway Park, the Golden State Challenge Series will wrap up over the next three weeks with upcoming events at Ocean Speedway on August 7 and Placerville Speedway on August 21.
