Memmer wins for 2nd time!

Lawrenceburg Speedway

From Lawrenceburg Speedway

John Memmer picked up his first sprint car feature win back on June 5th. It was a memorable win for the young man from Evansville, Indiana. After dominating his heat race, we would draw the pole position in The Lawrenceburg Speedway redraw. With Memmer starting from the pole, alongside Casey Shuman, the 25 lap Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprint car feature was set to be an exciting one. When the green flag waved, Memmer was able to jump to the front bringing Shuman, and series point leader Andrew Elson. As Memmer pulled away, Elson was able to get around Shuman for second. With Memmer and Elson, clearly the class of the field, those two would race for the top two spots with Shawn Westerfeld battling with Elson for second. Memmer continued to run around the top side of the track right near the wall, coming very close to hitting the wall on several occasions. with Memmer on a rail he was not to be denied. He would lead all 20 laps on his way to his second victory at Lawrenceburg. With the win, Memmer moved up to second place in points trailing only Andrew Elson for the 2010 Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprint Car Track Championship. Elson would finish second followed by Westerfeld, Defending track champion Joss Moffatt, and Casey Shuman. Heat race winners were Chad Boespflug, John Memmer, and Andrew Elson. The Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprint Cars return to the track on Saturday August 7th.

Weick holds on for 2nd win in 2010!!

Brad Weick probably thought he was well on his way to an easy feature win as the laps wound down. Weick would start from the pole of the 20 lap Budweiser UMP modified feature, and was cruising his way to a win or so it appeared that way. Joey Kramer, who started 4th, quickly moved up to second and set his sights on race leader and series point leader Brad Weick. For the first 16-17 laps, Kramer could only take a peek to the inside of Weick but could not pull alongside. Even after several restarts, Weick was too strong. With the green waving with 3 laps to go, Kramer found grip on the top side and was able to run down Weick and even put a slide job on Weick coming to the white flag. Weick was able to pull the crossover move and regain the lead. The fans were on their feet as both Weick and Kramer were coming to the white flag. Kramer tried one last run down the backstretch, but Weick was able to hold him off as the two raced to the line side by side. The margin of victory was about half a car length between the two modified stars. Weick continues to pad his point lead on his way to his 4th Lawrenceburg Speedway track championship. Daryl Herbert finished 3rd, followed by JD Largent, second in points who finished 4th and John Chase who rounded out the top 5. Heat race winners were Danny Teegarden, Joey Kramer, and Chuck Griffis. The Budweiser UMP modifieds return to the track on Saturday August 7th.

Defending Champ Stewart in Victory lane again!!

The 2009 AMSA mini-sprint Champion was not looking to defend his championship in 2010, but it has been a decent year for the young man from Xenia, Ohio. Stewart won for the second time in 2010 and for the second time at Lawrenceburg this year. Stewart would take the green flag from the third position and quickly take the lead passing Seth Wilkerson, and pole sitter TJ Heil. With Stewart up front, he would lead all 20 laps and cruise on to the easy victory. Stewart would be followed across the line by Kevin Roberts, Sr, Jeff Barnhart, TJ Heil, and Scott Fasse. Heat race winners were Ryan Broughton, Rod Henning, and Beau Stewart. Michael Roehling, Jr. won the B Main. The AMSA mini Sprints return to the track on Friday July 13th at Moler Raceway. The Series returns to Lawrenceburg on Saturday August 21st.
