SANTA CLAUS VISITS OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY THIS FRIDAY!

(August 17, 2010) – The tenth round of Ohsweken Speedway’s Friday Night Thunder hits the track this Friday, August 20. This week’s event is “Christmas in August” presented by Grisdale Racing Products and Outhouse Image and Design, and features the ASCS versus Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Car Challenge, ESSO Thunder Stocks, ESSO Mini Stocks, and Bombers, plus Tillsonburg Outlaw Mini Sprints, a visit by Santa Claus, Toy Drive, and Autograph Night! All fans with a donation for the Toy Drive will be given two for one admission this Friday!

Dave Dykstra extended his Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Car division points lead last Friday by finishing fourth in the feature race. The Port Colborne driver has a new opponent chasing him from the runner-up spot in the form of Campbellville’s Kevin Job, who finished third on Friday. South Dayton, New York driver Kyle Moffit charged through the field from eleventh to second last Friday only to have an engine problem put him out of the race. Moffit is now third in the Corr/Pak standings, followed by Keith Dempster of Alton, and Ohsweken’s Glenn Styres.

This Friday’s race is also a full point’s event for the New York-based ASCS Patriots tour, as well as being part of their “King of the Golden Horseshoe” Miniseries. Bryan Howland of Auburn, NY is the Patriots point leader by thirty-three over Salamanca, New York driver Jared Zimbardi, who got the feature win last Friday at Ohsweken. Tim Kelly of Rock Stream, New York is third, followed by Brookfield, Connecticut driver Bubba Broderick, and Don Adamczyk of Williamsville, New York.

The Michigan-based ASCS Sprints on Dirt tour is competing at South Buxton Raceway this Saturday, and many series regulars are expected at Ohsweken this Friday as well. St. Johns, Michigan driver Ryan Grubaugh leads the tour’s point’s standings by sixty-four over Gregg Dalman of Bellvue, Michigan. Jerome, Michigan’s Ben Rutan is third, followed by Tecumseh, Michigan driver Dain Naida, and Dustin Daggett of Portland, Michigan.

Jamie Cox of Cambridge extended his points lead over Port Robinson’s Billy Bleich with his second ESSO Thunder Stock feature win in a row last Friday night. Cox now leads by twenty markers over Bleich, while a trio of Caledonia drivers – Ryan Dinning, Lee Winger, and Mike Thorne – are third, fourth, and fifth.

The ESSO Mini Stock division featured a first-time winner last Friday night as Mike Taylor edged out Mike Evers for the victory. Trevor Goulding of Welland remains the points leader however, while Brantford’s Craig Erskine is second, followed by Steve Hess of Ohsweken, Brantford driver Kevin Hilborn, and Mike Evers of Caledonia.

The Bomber division also found a new face in victory lane last Friday in the form of Trevor Roszell. Karl Sault of Dundas remains the Bomber points leader, followed by Hamilton’s John Cote, Burlington driver Jeremy Hughes, Kacey Huffman of Hamilton, and Caledonia’s Jesse McDonald.
