Three nights of racing at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill. this week could shake up the 2010 USAC National Driver championship standings, depending on performances by the top-ranking drivers.

Little change took place at the top during last weekend’s “4-Crown Nationals” tripleheader at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, with Bryan Clauson entering the weekend with a 27-point cushion over Levi Jones and exiting with a 29-point cushion. Clauson posted a victory and two seconds while Jones had a win, a third and a 16th.

Jerry Coons Jr., who won the “4-Crown” Midget race, vaulted back around Tracy Hines in the standings, now eight ahead of Hines in third place.

The USAC Mopar National Midget Series competes in full point-paying events Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in the “Gold Crown Midget Nationals” at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill.

The 2010 USAC National Drivers Champion will receive a $40,000 cash prize, while the “top-10” in the standings will share in the year-end NDC points fund.
