First Top-5 Earned by Darren Long and JGRacing.

From J.G. Motorsports

With the light getting brighter and brighter at the end of tunnel, and that said end becoming much closer, Darren Long with JGRacing picked up their first career top-5 finish in ASCS National racing.

Friday evening at Riverside Speedway the team got into something that plagued them early in the year, a bad pill draw. Starting off 6th in the third heat Darren knew the deck was stacked against him. With the car just a tick off he fell one spot to 7th relegating him to the first B-Main.

Deep in the pack starting 12th the JGRacing entry would need 9 positions to make it in to the feature. With the car better he was only able to grab three finishing up in the 9th spot ending the night early.

With the morning and afternoon to work on the car and their bellies full of BBQ the team changed the car back to their tried and true set-up that has been working great the last couple of months, a good pill draw never hurts as well. Starting off on the outside of the front row Darren took the lead and never looked back winning the sixth heat race of the evening.

Locked into the feature and with the car on a rail the blue and black 3g would begin the 50 lap finale in 13th place. Running the bottom side of the track like everyone else Darren was in the top-10 on the very first lap. By lap twenty the JGRacing entry was in the top-5 hounding the back bumper of Tony Bruce who was just behind Brian Brown looking for a bobble to climb further up the ladder. The bobble however came from the wrong car when an infield tire gave Darren a little more forward bite than he wanted sending the front end skyward. After getting out of the fuel for a blip Kyle Hirst was able to get by and Darren then followed him the remaining 25 laps to round out the top-5.

This week’s Red Line Oil question is; what year did Darren drive around Kasey Kahne to win the first Old Spice Sizzler at Eldora Speedway? This week’s winner will receive a Hoosier Tire Hat. Please send answers to zeakemedia@gmail.com
