RUSH, NY (November 13, 2010)- In a season that saw the Patriots reach new limits, Bryan Howland was able to three-peat as series champion and take along plenty of additional hardware along the way.

Nearly 100 people were in attendance at the Wildwood Country Club in Rush, NY to see Bryan Howland take the Lion’s share of the $26,000 cash point fund paid out with the support of A-Verdi Storage Containers, Insinger Race Fuels, Hoosier Tire Canada, Fine Touch Collision, Mike Emhof Motorsports and Riverside Bar and Grill.

Howland, 23, of Auburn, NY, his family and his team sat at the front table once again Saturday Night at the 2010 ASCS Patriot Awards banquet, as he became the first driver to ever collect a fourth series title with the Patriots. In the process, Howland would collect a check of $6100 in year end point funds.

“We started out on the right foot and we just carried that momentum through,” reflected Howland. “We had a little bit of bad luck in the middle of the year but we pulled through with our strong crew and strong sponsor support and finished it out.”

The pilot of the Filtrec Corporation, Jimmy D-powered No. 51 Maxim took advance of the nearly $13,000 of bonus money available in the second season of the “Five Crown Tour”. He captured the crown-jewel A-Verdi Storage Containers King of Upstate New York title for the second time and took home the Mike Emhof Motorsports King of OH/PA for the second straight year. In addition to those titles, who also took home beautiful cups and plenty of cash for winning the Fine Touch Collision King of the Golden Horseshoe and the Insinger Race Fuels King of the Southern Tier for the first time.

Things went great for Howland all summer long, but unfortunately his season was cut short at the Canadian Nationals when he crashed and suffered a shattered shoulder blade and fractured fibula.

Howland was able to secure the championship due in large part to his top-level performance in the final five point races as he recorded two wins and never finished worse than fourth, enabling him to once again pull away to build up enough of a point lead to afford missing the final show-up points event at Ohsweken.

“I’ve really have to thank my dad,” admitted Howland. “He does everything as far as setups in the garage and at the racetracks all season long, even all winter long; none of this would be possible without him.”

For the second year in a row, Howland captured a stunning trophy given to this year’s champion courtesy of Ohsweken Speedway and the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.

Jared Zimbardi was the runner-up in the overall standings for the fourth straight season. The Little Valley, NY driver was also formally crowned as the Riverside Bar and Grill King of the St. Lawrence Series, which he captured due in large part to his two wins at Brockville. “The Juice” was also awarded for his sportsmanship for the fifth year in a row, his perfect attendance for the fourth year in a row, and was named the first repeat winner of the Gater Racing News Hard Charger of the Season.

Tim Kelly, of Rock Stream, NY, was recognized at the Patriot Banquet for the first time after he finished his first tour in third place in points. Kelly, along with co-owner Eddie Vickio, were named the Patriots of the Year. Kelly joined Zimbardi as perfect attendance award recipients.

Bubba Broderick, of Brookfield, CT, was a three-time winner on the 2010 tour and finished fourth in the standings for the second consecutive year. Broderick was quick to thank his crew chief Harry “Bones” Stevens, who was named the 2010 Mechanic of the Year.

Don Adamczyk, of Williamsville, NY, rounded out the top-five in the overall standings. “The Williamsville Warrior” also claimed his seventh Best Appearing Car Award.

Vern Wasson, of Jersey Shore, PA, was sixth in the standings, which enabled him to capture the Outstanding Newcomer Award.

Dylan Swiernik, of Port Leyden, NY, was officially named the 2010 Insinger Race Fuels Rookie of the Year. Swiernik delivered a poised acceptance speech after putting his hands on the Eagle Trophy and Rookie’s Jacket.

Additional special tributes were conducted on this special evening, including Scott Bonnell and Vern Wasson each being recognized for their Outstanding Contribution to the Patriots. Bonnell was also the Hard Luck Award Recipient. Patriot Technical Inspector Pat Nelson was awarded for his Dedication to Motorsports.

A good time was had by all in attendance as Hot Wings TV DVD’s allowed for some great story swapping before jumping in to one of the four Quicktime Simulators present to take on one another well after the season was over. Bubba Broderick found a way to keep the mood extremely light with his antics.

At the conclusion of the banquet, Mike Emhof made the surprise announcement that the Patriots will operate independent of ASCS in 2011 and be run as the Patriot Sprint Tour that he will own. More details on that will be forthcoming.

The next stop during the off-season will be next week at the National Parts Peddler Trade Show and Auction in Syracuse, NY. Stop by the Patriot Sprint Tour Booth Friday through Sunday.
