Sydney Sprintcar Summer Cup Prelminary Rained Out

The opening night of the $10,000-to-win Sprint Car Summer Cup, slated for Friday night, December 3, has been abandoned due to constant rain in Sydney. The Tyrepower Sydney Speedway track is a quagmire following relentless downpours that have made it impossible for track staff to prepare the racing surface for 2 nights of sprint car competition.

“The entire East Coast of Australia has been subjected to non-stop rain since last Sunday and we haven’t even been able to get a grader onto the track,” explained speedway General Manager, David Tapp.

“We have no choice other than to abandon the Friday night program as it is impossible to prepare the race track in time.

“Furthermore, should heavy rain continue over the next 24 hours, inevitably, night 2, scheduled for Saturday night, December 4, will also be abandoned. A decision regarding Saturday night’s fixture will be made at 9am on Friday, December 3”.

This being the case the next sprint car fixture to be staged at Tyrepower Sydney Speedway will be on Boxing Night when Valvoline presents the annual $10,000-to-win Valvoline Australian Sprint car Grand Prix.
