Rio Vista, California – December 14, 2010…The 2011 tentative schedule for the Golden State King of the West Sprint Car Series was released today from its offices in Rio Vista and features 25 point races, visiting 14 different tracks.
The season-opener will be held at the Antioch Speedway on Saturday April 9, with the season-finale being the annual “Cotton Classic” at Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA on October 15.
New tracks to the schedule will include the Merced Speedway in Merced, CA and the Chowchilla Speedway in Chowchilla, CA. Another exciting addition will include a two-night event at Watsonville’s Ocean Speedway billed as the inaugural “Howard Kaeding Classic” on July 1 & 2.
After a successful debut last year “Western Speedweek” returns to the schedule, including point races at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA; Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, OR; Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, OR and Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, OR. The slate of events will be capped off with the Non-Points, 40th annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway, which pays $40,000-to-win Saturday’s main event.
The Golden State King of the West Sprints will also be partnering with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series during their West Coast events in 2011.
The overall cash point fund for the series has been more than doubled from last year, as it currently sits at over $100,000 and will also feature more than $200,000 in contingency and prizes. The standard overall A-main purse has been raised to $18,250 with a minimum $500-to-start each night. The Last Chance Showdown with the series will also feature a total payout of $3,250 with $350 going to the first non-transfer and a guaranteed $200-to-start the last chance race.
