MUSEUM TO HOST “RACING SLIDE SHOW WITH DAVE HILL & TOM SCHMEH”

From NSCHOF

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (January 7, 2011) – The National Sprint Car Museum’s “Sprint Car 101” Third Thursday Series will start its second season on Thursday, January 20, with a “Racing Slide Show with Dave Hill & Tom Schmeh”. The free and open-to-the-public program will be held on the museum’s second floor and it will begin at 7 p.m. This two-hour program will be the year’s first in the educational and entertaining series which is aimed at new-comers to, and veterans of, the sport of sprint car racing.

According to museum curator Tom Schmeh, “The idea for the racing slide show came from museum supporter Gary Llewellyn of Melcher-Dallas a couple of years ago. He gave a great program with his slides, so this time we will have fellow museum supporter and photographer Dave Hill bring in some of his earliest slides from Knoxville Raceway in the 1980’s. I will also be showing the ‘80s Knoxville slides of Jim Vanden Berg of Pella, who generously donated his collection to the museum. And, if we have time, I will also be showing my slides of Australian sprint car racing from the early Nineties. All-in-all, it’s just going to be a fun evening of viewing old racing slides. In fact, maybe we can convince Gary Llewellyn to come back later this winter with his collection and make an encore presentation as part of our Sprint Car 101 Third Thursday Series!”
