McFadden: Rested and Ready to Go

By Daniel Powell
After being a late withdrawal from last weekend’s Australian Sprintcar Nationals at Speedway City due to injury; James McFadden is loaded with confidence on his return to the wheel of his WA # 25 Totally Workwear supported Cool for the resumption of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship.
The recently dethroned Australian Champion explained that a shoulder injury that he had been carrying throughout the season that he had sustained during a crash during last September’s Mackay Spectacular in North Queensland.
“I’ve been putting up with this shoulder injury since the crash earlier in the season and it’s been getting progressively worse as the season went on,” the 21-year-old explained. “Last week I went to the doctor for a check up on it [the shoulder injury]. They suggested that I take a break from racing in order to give it a bit of a rest, as over the past two months it has been pretty full on and we haven’t had a chance to take a break.”
Now rested up, McFadden is now looking forward to this Wednesday night (February 9) at Kalgoorlie International Speedway for the first leg of the WSS Championship over in Western Australia with plenty of confidence. McFadden, who currently sits sixth in the WSS Championship point standings, is quietly confident that he can move further up the ladder in the closing rounds.
“I cannot wait to get back behind the wheel, as the rest has been worthwhile and I feel good,” McFadden commented. “The next fortnight is going to see us compete at four different tracks across the state of Western Australia to complete the World Series Championship. This Wednesday night I’ll make my one and only appearance at my car owner Scott Milling’s home track at Kalgoorlie and I’d love nothing more than to bring home a good result for not only him and his family but also all our local supporters.”
After Wednesday night’s 13th round, the WSS Championship continues with the 14th round over two nights at Bunbury City Speedway this Friday and Saturday night (February 11 and 12).
In the 2010/11 season McFadden would like to thank his car owner Scott Milling, his parents Dave (crew chief) and Tania, along with his valuable sponsors Totally Workwear, Western Diamond Drillers, KRE Race Engines, OMP, Racer Industries and Cool Chassis for all their wonderful support.
