WHEATLEY SEARCHING FOR DIESEL SPONSOR TO RACE

Inside Line Promotions

– LAKE STEVENS, Wash. (May 18) – Austen Wheatley is in quite the predicament.

“The cars are ready, the engines are good, the chassis are new,” he said. “Everything is ready to go. We could leave tonight. We just don’t have the funds to get there.”

There is California, where Wheatley and crew want to race with the King of the West Sprint Car Series – arguably the premier 410 sprint car series on the West Coast.

“We don’t have any 360 engines, so we can only do the 410 thing,” the 18-year-old from Lake Stevens, Wash., said. “And where we are at, we can pretty much only go to California.”

Therefore, Wheatley is in search of a fuel sponsor for the truck’s diesel.

“We’ve only raced one time in the last month and a half,” he said. “Just to get to California and get some seat time would be awesome.”

The next King of the West Sprint Car Series race is Saturday at Santa Maria Speedway in Santa Maria, Calif. The following weekend is a doubleheader at Calistoga Speedway in Calistoga, Calif., where Wheatley finished 22nd with the World of Outlaws on April 2.

He finished 10th at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., on April 23, which was his last race.
