GREG ALEXANDER RETURNS TO THE AMSOIL USAC/CRA SERIES SATURDAY AT PERRIS!

By Scott Daloisio

(Gardena, CA, May 25, 2011) After a disappointing outcome last Saturday night in the USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series, Gardena, California’s Greg Alexander hopes to rebound Saturday at the Amsoil USAC/CRA Salute to Indy at Perris Auto Speedway. Driving the Tyler Motorsports owned, Trench Shoring, Barnes Systems, Sander Engineering, Tyler Pool Service and Tyler Family Farms #72, Alexander qualified 17th in the 28 car field last Saturday night at Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway in Hanford, California. That placed him in the first 10-lap heat race where he finished third.

For the main, the 22-year-old racer started on the outside of the eighth row (16th) and quickly began to impress the crowd as he knifed his way through the talent laden field. By lap five he was up to ninth and two laps later was poised to make the pass that would move him up to eighth. However, the drive shaft broke and spit out the torque tube. The talented driver was done for the night and finished a disappointing 21st.

“It is kind of frustrating as we had our best set up of the year,” Alexander said. “I think I had a car that was capable of winning and we passed a lot of good cars early on.”

Saturday’s race at The PAS will be Alexander’s first in a 410 Sprint Car since April 2nd. He has two outings in a 410 this year and has recorded a 10th and 11th place finish (both races were at The PAS). At the March 12th race, Alexander dazzled the large crowd when he was the fastest qualifier in the 27 car Amsoil USAC/CRA field.

Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM on Saturday and the first race will be at 7:00. For more information on Saturday’s race, please visit the Perris Auto Speedway website at: http://www.perrisautospeedway.com/

Alexander’s John Bellegante owned #23 is sponsored by Barnes Systems, Amsoil, Persall Masonry, and Scott’s Headers and Mufflers.
