TULSA, Okla. (July 5, 2011) – Another pair of events are on tap for the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP as the series fires back into action in Michigan this weekend.

On Friday night, the series makes its lone stop of the year at Mount Pleasant Speedway. Then, on Saturday night, it’s the first of two annually scheduled stops at Owendale Speedway.

Friday’s card at Mount Pleasant Speedway also marks Round Three of the MAHLE/Clevite Short Track Series.

With three triumphs in the initial six events of the season, all-time leading SOD feature winner Dustin Daggett of Portland, MI, is atop the series points charts with a healthy 178-point advantage over defending series champion Ryan Grubaugh of St. Johns, MI.

Robert Huisken (Marne, MI), Jared Horstman (Cloverdale, OH) and Brett Mann (Goshen, IN) round out the current top five in points, with the rest of the top ten including Joe Bares (Traverse City, MI), Gregg Dalman (Bellevue, MI), Davey Brown (Eaton Rapids, MI), Jim Lingar (South Bend, IN) and Matt Lumbert (Dowling, MI).

The ASCS Sprints on Dirt has only taken to the semi-banked, 3/8-mile Mount Pleasant Speedway once over the past five years, with Dustin Daggett reaching victory lane in June of 2009.

The semi-banked, ¼-mile Owendale Speedway dirt oval has been a fixture on the ASCS SOD slate in recent years, with Gregg Dalman and Dain Naida splitting last year’s wins after Brett Mann picked off wins in both 2008 and 2009.

Friday’s action at Mount Pleasant Speedway fires off at 7:45 p.m., while Saturday’s SOD portion of Owendale Speedway’s Super Race Day gets under way at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Mount Pleasant Speedway is located in Mount Pleasant, MI, ¼ mile west of US 27 on SR 20, then north on Isabella Road, then 0.3 miles west on River Road. For more information, contact the track at 989-773-2387.
