RYAN LITT: FROM THE ZOO TO THE FAIR

by Tommy Goudge

(July 21, 2011) – Ryan Litt and the #07 BS&B Radiator Sprint Car team worked hard and scored a 2nd place finish last weekend at Kalamazoo Speedway. This weekend the team heads to another Michigan track that has been good to them in the past – Berlin Raceway – for an Auto Value Super Sprints series race during Berlin Fair week.

Ryan was 6th fastest in time trials at Kalamazoo, and parlayed that into a 2nd place run in the feature. The team was very busy between the heat race and feature though:

“We had a really good run at Kalamazoo,” says Ryan. “I owe it all to my team. We had a rear end break in the heat race, and they swapped it just in time for the feature.”

Ryan held off Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Car series points leader Troy DeCaire for much of the race, and is now just seven markers behind. The next Xtreme series event is coming up on August 6 at Salem Speedway.

“The car started off really good,” says Ryan. “It loosened up as the race went on, but we still came home 2nd and had a really good points day. The points race is going to be a close one this year, and it’s anyones to win. We’re going to run as strong and as consistent as possible, and hope to bring home the top spot.”

This weekend Ryan will switch back to the AVSS tour to compete at Berlin Raceway, a Grand Rapids-area track where he’s seen success in the past. Most recently, he finished 4th there on June 4 with the Xtreme Sprint Car series.

“This weekend should be a really fun one,” says Ryan. “Two nights of racing at Berlin, and I’m sure in front of a packed house as the fair is going on all week.”

The Xtreme series uses American Racer tires, while AVSS is on the more traditional Hoosier tire. Ryan and some other teams will need to make a few changes to stay fast this weekend.

“We are back to the Hoosier tires so that will be a little different for us,” says Ryan. “We’ll have more grip, but also a little more tire wear. Hope to bring home a win – we’re about due.”
