Port Royal – In a spectacular open wheel doubleheader performance this Saturday, August 27 at 7:30 PM, Port Royal Speedway will present a full program of United Racing Company sprint car racing along with regular 410 sprint cars and an enduro dash.

The United Racing Company has only ever raced at Port Royal Speedway once, back on June 24, 1967 when New Yorker Earl Halaquist took the victory.

Halaquist took a total of six URC series titles in his career before retiring in 1970 and during the 11 consecutive years that he ran with URC, he never finished lower than fourth place in the season point standings.

The URC event will be a 358/360 sprint challenge race which allows 358 sprint cars to compete along with the regular URC 360-powered racers.

Already planning to do double duty and race both 410 and URC cars on the night is Lance Dewease, Mark Smith and Daryn Pittman.

Top URC racers planning to compete include Curt Michael, Josh Weller, Kramer Williamson, Dave Ely and many more. Both Williamson and Ely own 410 triumphs at the historic oval.

To date in Aumiller’s Insurance 410 sprint car action at the Port, 15 races have produced 11 different winners including double winners Lance Dewease, Justin Henderson, Greg Hodnett and Ryan Taylor. Single wins have gone to Steve Buckwalter, Mike Erdley, Blane Heimbach, Keith Kauffman, Chad Layton, Tyler Walker and Daryn Pittman.

Ryan Taylor of Perkasie is the current point leader, looking for his first ever track title as the season draws to a close.

Heat races will set the feature starting grids for both the URC and 410 sprint divisions. An enduro dash will also be on the card.

Kids racecar rides will be given during intermission from a starting point in the old sprint car pit area, located inside of turn four.

General admission gates open at 5:30 PM. Adult general admission is just $16.00 with students ages 12 – 17 admitted for just $10.00.
