Crawley collects 2nd USCS weekend win at Crossville Raceway

Crossville, TN – (September 3, 2011) – Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas exploded from the K&N Filters Pole Position where he started into the lead in turn one on lap one and wired the field for thirty-laps in the United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear “Speed Xplosion” 2011 main event at Crossville Raceway on Saturday night to make his second trip to the USCS www.RockAuto.com victory lane of the weekend.

Crawley was awarded the K&N Filters Pole Position starting position after Engler Machine and Tool First Heat winner, Jerrod Hull from Sikeston, Missouri drew a six in the K&N Filters Pole Award drawing. This inverted hard working 2011 Rookie of the Year points leader, Jordon Mallet from Green brier, Arkansas from who collected the most “passing” points in the heat races to sixth place and placed Crawley on the K&N Filters Pole. The inversion also placed Lance Moss from Cherryville, North Carolina outside the front row with Crawley. Behind them were Butlerbuilt Second Heat winner, Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee and defending series Champion, Terry Gray also from Bartlett. Hull joined Mallett in the third row in the fifth starting position.

On the start Crawley leaped past Moss into the lead in turn one. Nicholson grabbed the runner-up spot on the first circuit. Gray passed Nicholson on lap two for the second position while Hull moved into the third position on lap three. On lap eleven Hull got around Gray and took up the chase for Crawley.

The race continued green for seventeen laps until Jerod Rollers cut down left rear tire brought out the caution. The running order on lap twenty-one was Crawley, Hull, Gray, ninth place starter Justin Carver from Drummonds, Tennessee and Nicholson.

When the green flag displayed for the final nine laps, Crawley raced away while 2009 USCS Rookie of the Year, Justin Carver passed Gray for third place on lap twenty-three, then picked off the runner-up spot from Hull on lap twenty nine to race home to the finish line behind Crawley in second place. Hull who is a tight point’s battle with Gray for the USCS Mid South title finished in the K&N Filters third place with Gray in fourth position coming under the checkers. Anthony Nicholson rounded out the top five drivers.

The 2010 USCS National Rookie of the Year and only female driver in the field, Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee lead the rest of the field in sixth place. Matt Linder from Hoschton, Georgia finished seventh. Brian Bell from Cordova, Tennessee finished in the eighth position followed by Lee Sowell from Nesbit, Mississippi. 2010 USCS Southern Thunder Tour regional series Rookie of the Year, Eric Riggins, Jr. from Charlotte, North Carolina rounded out the top ten drivers.

Since the event awarded both USCS presented by Goodyear Mid South regional series and USCS Southern Thunder presented by Goodyear regional series Championship points, two separate Goodyear Speed Dashes were held. Tim Crawley won the 6-cars, 6-laps Southern Thunder dash while nine-time series Champion, Terry Gray won the USCS Mid South Thunder Goodyear Speed Dash. Both events were comprised of the top six cars from the previous USCS main event in their regions.

The 10-cars, 10-laps Engler Machine and Tool First Heat was won byJerrod Hull. Anthony Nicholson scored the victory in the 10-cars,10-laps Butlerbuilt Second Heat Race. Justin Carver passed the most cars in the main event to earn the Wilwood Engineering Hard Charger Award. Jordon Mallett garnered the Goodyear, Rookie of Race honors. Terry Gray earned the JE Pistons Top guns Award for his fourth place finish in the main event. Tim Crawley was the recipient of the K&N Filters $100 Pole Award.

The next United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear winged sprint car event is the 3rd annual Razorback Rumble on Friday, September 16th at Beebe Speedway in Beebe, Arkansas (www.beebespeedway.com )

The series will compete on the following night (Saturday, September 17th) in the Missouri State Championship Races 2011 at Malden Speedway (www.maldenspeedway.com ) in Malden, Missouri. The USCS 600 Sprint Car Series (Winged Mini Sprints) and K&N Filters USCS Modiifed Touring Series will both compete in those events to create a double triple-header that weekend
