With confidence high following strong results over the past two weekends, Danny Reidy had a tough night during last Saturday night’s Sydney Speedway Sprintcar Track Championship finale that ended in crashing fashion.
After a poor time trial result [32nd], Reidy had his backs to the wall from then onwards. He managed to scrape into the feature race field by claiming the final transfer spot, fifth, in his heat race.
When it came to Reidy’s feature race starting position, his poor time trial result came back to haunt him, where he started out of position 20. Reidy was on a charge through the field, but it all came undone on lap 22. While worked his way up to ninth, but fell victim to one of the tracks ruts in turns three and four and it resulted in a nasty rollover, which ended what was a disappointing night.
The NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs supported J&J driver said that his night started off badly, but, unfortunately, ended the same way.
“We paid for our bad time trial and were unable to recover,” Reidy said disappointingly. “Our crash in the feature race was a result of hitting a cushion on the track and being unable to save it.”
After their crash, the Reidy Racing team have their work cut out for them to get their car ready for this Saturday night’s (April 21) Queensland Title at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway.
“Thankfully there wasn’t any damage to the chassis during the crash,” commented Reidy. “But we as a team still have a lot of work ahead of us to get it back up and running for this weekend.”
