Saturday night at the Marysville Raceway Park, Andy Gregg charged from his 18th starting position to a ninth place finish during the second round of the Cancen Oil King of the West Series presented by Goddyear.

With 29 cars checked into the pit are, Gregg struggled on the greasy track during qualifications as he timed his GUTS Racing/7 Industries/Ervin Sales Group machine in 19th quick.

Starting in the back of his heat, Gregg got into an entertaining duel with Rico Abreu for the final transfer spot into the feature, and after a race long battle, ‘Hurricane’ grabbed fourth and transferred directly into the 30-lap feature event.

Gregg’s qualifying effort did him no favors in the feature, as the Placerville, CA driver was in the ninth row to start the event.

On the hooked up, heavy MRP ¼ mile, Gregg was able to muscle his Autism Awareness/Pro Shocks/Meyers and Sons Drywall machine up into the top-ten in the high paced feature event that was only slowed for one caution.

Late in the race, Gregg and Peter Murphy hooked up in a battle for the eighth spot, and the two drivers actually collided, but both were able to continue on, and Gregg ended up with a ninth place finish.

“It was a decent night tonight,” said Gregg. “The way the track was, everyone was so fast and I’m sorry to anyone that I got into tonight. I know I got into Murphy, and I’m sorry, but he ended up getting me back. It was nice to have my old crew chief back tonight, he really made a difference.”
