Keeping It Going at Kokomo

From CDR

A return visit to Kokomo Speedway in Indiana for the first time since 2007 on Tuesday was next up for Craig Dollansky and the Big Game Treestands #7 team as they looked to keep the momentum going in front of a packed crowd following their victory on Saturday.

As one of the most recent World of Outlaws winners at the track in 2006, Dollansky signed in for his fourth appearance at the ¼-mile and began the night by powering to 2nd fastest in qualifying behind teammate Sammy Swindell. Lining up outside row two for heat #2, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ claimed 3rd to advance into the dash. An inversion of six for the dash put the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim inside row three where the Elk River, Minnesota native finished 6th.

In the 40-lap A-Main the MobileStar #7 started outside row three. After two failed attempts to start the main event, the third time was a charm but not for long however as another caution came with 1 lap complete. Running fourth for the restart, Dollansky raced past Bill Rose to take third and held the position before a yellow flag on lap 9. Another great restart saw the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products backed sprinter hound Joey Saldana and then use the low side exiting turn 4 to claim the runner-up spot. As action continued, Dollansky closed in on leader Kraig Kinser around the halfway point as they approached lapped traffic. Unable to make the pass, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ kept working the high side and again narrow the gap on the #11K of Kinser with six circuits remaining but ended up recording a strong runner-up finish, his 5th podium result of the last 7 events.

“It was a fun Kokomo race track and a great turn out of fans,” commented Dollansky. “Kraig drove a great race and we got close a few times and he was trying to work some lapped cars. He was going to have to make a mistake for us to get by him and he didn’t and ran a good race. To come home 2nd is another great run for Big Game Treestands, Aggressive Hydraulics, MobileStar, and Aeroquip. DJ and Luke work hard and it’s a great finish for us.”

The Big Game Treestands #7 team now head to the Upper Midwest as Craig, wife Julie, and CDR Promotions bring the World of Outlaws to Clay County Fair Speedway in Iowa for the first of two appearances this season. ‘The Crowd Pleaser’, who picked up the most recent win at the 3/8-mile track in Spencer last September, shared some thoughts HERE on Friday’s event.
