Port Royal – Port Royal Fairgrounds Speedway will host Fan Appreciation Night this Saturday, June 16 at 7 pm with $10 adult general admission for fans to see a full program of 410 sprints, late models, pro stocks and an enduro dash.

For general admission fans, the race provides an opportunity for them to go home with various prizes including nearly 20 12-pack cases of Pepsi Cola, a pass to Hershey Park, a pass to Knoebels Grove Amusement Park and a pair of tickets to August’s NASCAR race at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond.

In addition, the first 250 fans entering the gates will receive free can coolers from the Lions Den sports complex in McAlisterville.

For the racers, it will be Bob Collins Non Qualifiers Bonus Night.

In memory of Collins, a long time, devoted member of various Port Royal pit crews, every car that fails to qualify for the sprint main will receive a substantial bonus.

At least $1,000 has been built up so far that is intended to be split between the non-qualifiers with that amount expected to grow. If two or less cars fail to qualify, a portion of the bonus money will be split evenly throughout the feature field after the non-qualifiers have received their portion.

Lance Dewease won the most recent Aumillers Insurance 410 sprint feature on June 2, holding off Greg Hodnett at the finish.

The victory was the second of the season at the oval for the Fayetteville flyer.

Hodnett on the other hand has five victories at the track this season with single wins having gone to Rick Lafferty and USAC star Damion Gardner.

Chad Layton is the current sprint division point leader.

Tim Wilson of McClure currently leads the AB Auto Glass late model points with a pair of victories this season.

Herndon’s Brett Schadel, a one-time winner, is second in the points.

Other late model winners this year have been Andy and Scott Haus.

Derrick Garman has been the only driver able to repeat in Millers Auto Parts pro stock action this season, with a pair of wins, most recently on June 9.

Single winners have been Jeff Bryner, John Heane, Harold Ranck Jr. and AJ Stroup.

Jason Zook has been the only driver to win in Juniata Tire Sales/Casners Service Center enduro dash action.

Gates for Saturday’s $10 Fan Appreciation Night open at 5 pm.
