SACRAMENTO, CA- (6-19-12) – The stars of the Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Shootout Series will invade Alan Handy’s well prepared Placerville Speedway this Saturday night, June 23rd. The track provides some of the best wingless sprint car racing in the northern region. The capacity crowd is always appreciative of the exciting side-by-side wingless sprint car racing.

The series has been well attended this year. Thirty-four different drivers have earned championship points after the first two rounds. Each race has produced different winners. The opening night race at Chico was won by Rio Linda’s Scott Hall while Sebastopol’s Geoff Ensign won the most recent race at Petaluma.

Santa Rosa’s Terry Schank Jr. is the current point leader as the series heads into Placerville Speedway this weekend. Schank is still searching for his first series win but his consistency is what has vaulted him to the top. Schank has finished second in the main event both times this season. Opening night winner Scott Hall is holding down the second spot. Hall is trialing Schank by eight points. Biggs driver Cody Smith sits in the third spot. Smith has finished fourth in both main events this season. Roseville driver Angelique Bell is currently fourth. Bell has two finishes of seventh this year. Napa’s Joe Stornetta rounds out the top five.

A full-field of cars is expected for the third round of Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Shootout Series at Placerville. The series will get to group qualify, run heat races and a main event. The wingless series will be joined by the winged 360’s, limited late models and pure stocks.
