Wheatland, MO — (June 23rd, 2012) — Getting by race long leader Josh Stephens on lap seventeen, John Helm went on to his first Wingless Auto Racing victory of the season on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Speedway.

Stephens paced the field on the start followed by Kenny Potter as things got scary right behind them as third-starting Zach Clark climbed the right rear tire of Austin Alumbaugh and went for a scary tumble in turn three. Clark fortunately climbed out unscathed.

Stephens again took the lead on the restart followed by Potter. The lead pair would run this way for the first ten laps as sixth-starting Helm started moving forward and got past Potter on lap eleven.

Two laps later, Potter would lose third to Alumbaugh.

By lap fifteen, Stephens was getting heavy pressure from Helm and Alumbaugh for the top spot. The lead trio would race this way until lap seventeen when Stephens slipped a little high off of turn two allowing Helm and Alumbaugh to race by going down the backstretch.

Helm would go on to the victory in the Helm Racing Eagle with Wesmar power. Alumbaugh ran second in the Rick Smith owned MRP with Engine Connection power. Stephens was third in the Steve Neale RMS powered Eagle. Brady Bacon, after setting fast time and winning his heat race, chose to take the Front Row Challenge and race for extra money. He was able to move from seventeenth to fourth at the finish in the Jack Hockett Maxim with RMS power. Potter would hang on to fifth in his Triple X with Wesmar power. Mitchell Moore ran sixth followed by Lanny Carpenter and Chad Shields. Rounding out the top ten were Chad Tye and Jeff Wingate.
