Lawrenceburg, IN — (August 4, 2012) — On Saturday August 4th the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (running in conjunction with the Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints), the Budweiser UMP Modifieds and Zimmer Tractor Hornets took to the high banks of the Legendary Lawrenceburg Speedway.

In sprint car action 16 year old CJ Leary, of Greenfield, Ind., snatched the lead from Joss Moffatt on lap seventeen, and pulled away from the field to score the first feature win of his career. With the race leaders encountering lapped traffic in the closing laps, both Landon Simon and Logan Hupp also got by Moffatt to finish second and third respectively. Moffatt held off a charging Shawn Westerfeld to finish fourth with Dustin Smith, Todd Kane, JT Stapp, Drew Abel and Tony Beaber rounding out the top ten. Heat winners were Stapp, Kirk Jeffries and Leary.

The only major incident of the night occurred on lap eighteen when Jeffries and Rick Horne tangled in turn one with Jeffries flipping. Both cars were out of the race with Brandon Spithaler also retiring with brake issues.

Logan Hupp continues to lead the Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprint standings with Drew Abel moving up three positions to second place.

With just six races left in the 2012 season the next event will be the “Monster Mod / Budweiser Fan Appreciation Night” featuring the Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprints, Budweiser UMP Modifieds and Zimmer Tractor Hornets.
