SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Selinsgrove Speedway returns to racing action at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday, Aug. 11, with an open wheel doubleheader featuring the Rislone United Racing Company (URC) touring 360 sprint cars and the A&A Auto Stores central Pennsylvania 358 sprint cars.

Also on the racing card will be the Jeff’s Auto Body & Recycling Center late models in a 25-lap feature and the Collier Paving & Construction roadrunners in a 12-lap race. Track gates will open at 5 p.m.

A fan-favorite for many years at Selinsgrove, the open wheel double will feature each sprint car division in a complete series of qualifying events and 25-lap features. Both divisions will also utilize their respective handicapping systems to set the starting fields for Saturday’s main events.

On May 12, the 32nd Annual Jack Gunn Memorial was a URC-sanctioned challenge race between the two sprint car divisions and was won by Blane Heimbach of Selinsgrove.

Entering this weekend’s racing action, Robbie Stillwagon of Burlington, N.J., leads the URC standings by only 26 points over Davie Franek of Wantage, N.J., while Pat Cannon of Etters leads the 358 sprint car standings by 310 points over Jason Shultz of Carlisle.

Several of Selinsgrove’s weekly 358 sprint car drivers are expected to do “double duty” by competing in both divisions this Saturday.

Track officials announced the make-up roadrunner feature from July 21 will be run on Saturday, Aug. 18, along with a regular racing program of 358 sprint cars, late models, and pro stocks.

The speedway will close out the month with a two-race weekend on the half-mile oval featuring a four division show of 358 sprint cars, late models, pro stocks, and roadrunners on Saturday, Aug. 25, followed by the first-ever appearance by the World of Outlaw Late Model Series on Sunday, Aug. 26, presented by Jeff’s Auto Body & Recycling Center.

The Aug. 26 race will star many of the biggest names in late model racing in a 50-lap feature paying $10,000 to win.

On Saturday, Sept. 1, Mach 1 Chassis will be the title sponsor of the 12th Annual National Open for 358-360 sprint cars. For the third consecutive year, the winner of the 35-lap main event will earn $8,000 out of a purse totaling more than $36,000! The rain date, if needed, will be Sunday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.

Selinsgrove Raceway Park will present a program of go karts, micro sprint cars, and a Speedweek event for slingshots at 7 p.m. this Friday, Aug. 10.
