– Willie Croft put on quite the display of passing on Saturday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, however a mid race crash set him back, and he would end up in the 14th spot.

“It was such a tough track to pass on, and we had our car good enough to maneuver above everyone, but unfortunately we really don’t have anything to show for it,” said Croft.

Timing in 12th fastest, Croft scored a second place finish in his heat, narrowly missing out on the dash, and putting him in the 12th starting spot for the feature event.

With the field fighting for the bottom of the speedway, Croft was able to work his way through the slick and slowly pick up positions. When the caution flag waved on the ninth lap, Willie had worked his way all the way up to the fourth spot.

Back underway, Croft began pressuring Jonathan Allard aboard his Holey Smokes BBQ/Christian Stove Foundation/ButlerBuilt No.29 for the third spot. On the 11th lap, heading into turn three, Croft got out of shape and spun his machine out, lightly laying it over on it’s side.

After a quick stop at the work area, Croft would rejoin the field, but would not have the same handling racecar that he had early in the feature. As he restarted at the tail of the field, the Sacramento, CA driver would hang on to work his Brown and Miller/Sander Engineering/FK Rod Ends machine to a 14th place finish.

“We got going really good at the start of the feature, and as I was working on Jonathan Allard for the third spot, got a little out of shape and spun, and ended up laying it over on it’s side. My guys did a good job getting me back out, but unfortunately we didn’t have the same car and ended up 14th.”
