Fresh off of a three week hiatus, Andy Gregg and the Cancen Oil King of the West Series returned to action Saturday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA, and the outspoken Gregg picked up a second place finish after leading the first half of the feature event.

Kicking off the day by signing autographs before the night’s action got underway, Gregg proceeded to show speed all night long aboard his GUTS Racing/ 7 Industries/Autism Awareness No.53.

Scoring a second place finish in his heat race, Gregg transferred into the feature event and the dash, which he won, and put his entry on the pole for the 30-lap feature event.

Starting on the front row alongside Tim Kaeding, Gregg got the jump exiting turn four and quickly moved to the bottom of the speedway as he held the early advantage.

Gregg continued to hit his marks lap after lap, even with a number of stoppages halting his pace.

On a lap 12 restart, Kaeding was able to pull alongside the Placerville, CA driver and beat him to the bottom in turns three and four, and drive away from Gregg and the rest of the field.

Gregg would ultimately hold on to the second spot, as it marked a career best King of the West Finish at the Silver Dollar Speedway.

“It’s never fun to run second, but to run second to Tim Kaeding pretty much feels like a win for us,” said Gregg. “We have had our share of struggles this year, and it’s just nice to be up here on the podium. Hopefully we can end this season right in a couple weeks down in Hanford, CA at the Cotton Classic.”
