Holmesville, OH — (August 30, 2012) — With the 2012 racing season entering into its final segment, Stevie Smith and the #19 CL Motorsports team are ready to make their final push for victories and momentum heading into 2013.

“This has been a year of learning and growing for us,” said Smith, who has 20 top-5 finishes so far in 2012. “We had our struggles to begin the year but really found our stride as the summer months began. More victories is always a goal but we’ve been there in contention. If you can consistently run up near the front, eventually all of the pieces start to fall into place to pick up those wins. We’re also going to be trying some new things to get a little bit better.”

The team will tackle the Labor Day weekend with a triple-header sanctioned by the University of Northwestern Ohio All Start Circuit of Champions. Up first is a return to Lernerville Speedway near Sarver, Pa on Friday, August 31. Smith wheeled his #19 CL Motorsports/DDNi/CJB Motorsports/ Spectro Oils KPC to a pair of top-10 finishes in July as CL Motorsports competed with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at the 4/10th‘s of a mile track.

“We had a decent run for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup, except for the part when I went off the track a bit,” chuckled Smith, referring to the twin 30 lap features that the track hosted on Tuesday, July 17. ” We were still getting a few things figured out with our car but I do look forward to going back there. Lernerville is a very racy place with some fantastic fans. The grandstands are usually always full when we go there.”

After Lernerville, the team will trek westward to Attica (OH) Raceway Park. The high banked, one-third mile oval has been a strong track for Smith in 2012 as he owns two top-5 finishes there in three starts.

“Outside of Williams Grove, Attica might be our best track and is one of my favorites,” said Smith, who has led 24 laps at Attica Raceway Park this season. “Attica produces some of the best racing anywhere. If the track surface slicks off, you’ll see cars two and three wide throughout the turns. I feel like we gave a few wins away there this year and we want to get one back.”

Wrapping up the Labor Day weekend is an event at NAPA Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio. The historic oval is a mere 30 minutes from the teams race shop in Holmesville, Ohio and was a turning point in Smith’s run to the 2012 Ohio Sprint Speedweek title.

“Wayne County will be an interesting race for us,” said Smith. “We dealt with a very rough race track but I think it will be much smoother this time. It was at Wayne County where we picked up the momentum for our Ohio Speedweek title.  I’m really hoping for a good run there and the other two tracks this weekend to get us started off well in the month of September. Some big races are coming up and we would love to go out there and pick up another victory or two before the season is over.”

The triple-header weekend kicks off a busy September for the #19 team as the AB Autoglass Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway, the Jim Ford Classic at Fremont Speedway and the 50th Annual Morgan Hughes National Open at Williams Grove Speedway all highlight the Bandit’s fall schedule.
