Park City, KS — (September 1, 2012) — Norman, Oklahoma driver Danny Jennings shook off early and mid-race challenges from early leader Adam Gullion en route to claim his third National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products 360 sprint car feature victory of the season Saturday night at 81 Speedway in Park City and the second event of a three race Labor Day weekend swing.

Gullian, who recently picked up his first career series victory at Mid-Nebraska Speedway two just weeks ago, started on the pole for the twenty-five lap feature and stuck to the bottom and drove into the lead as the green flag fell.

Gullian would lead the first two laps before Jennings, aboard the #1J Goodyear Tires/Butlerbuilt Seats sponsored sprinter, used the top of the cushion to drive around the leader entering turns three and four.

Jennings had his Wesmar powered Maxim chassis dialed in early and would quickly open up a half stretch lead by lap five.

While Jennings began to work lapped traffic on lap seven, Gullian had his hands full with fourth starting Jon Freeman for the runner up position with Freeman taking the runner up spot on lap seven.

Their battle would continue for several laps with Freeman continuing to hold on for position. The first of two caution flags would wave on lap eleven when Jeremy Campbell, who was running fourth, slowed on the front stretch.

The restart saw Jennings again power his way to the front while Gullion passed Freeman to retake the second position. Freeman would then get a challenge for the third position as third starting Jake Martens applied the pressure and would take over that position on lap fourteen.

This is when things would get interesting as back up front, Gullion began to apply pressure to Jennings and was just five car lengths behind the leader before the second and final caution flag of the night fell when Barry Gifford came to a stop on the backstretch.

Knowing Gullion was strong on the bottom of the three-eighths mile oval, Jennings drove down low entering turns one and two on the restart and would then pull away from the rest of the field.

While Jennings was in control and on his way to his third $2000 victory of the season, Martens was not done with his move to the front and began to pressure Gullion for the runner up position. He would take over that spot on lap eighteen and would hold on to claim the runner up position.

“The car was as fast as it would go,” said Jennings on whether or not the top or bottom was the place to be. ”I knew he (Gullion) was real fast on the bottom so I moved down there on that restart and felt pretty comfortable.”

Gullion would hold on to third while current series point leader C.J. Johnson worked his way up from his ninth starting position to finish fourth. Veteran Mike Peters started tenth and came through the field late to round out the top five.

Heat races for the seventeen car field were won by Gullion, Jennings and Freeman.
