Fremont, CA — (January 2, 2013) — 2012 Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo champion Shane Golobic, a student at San Jose State, has put together rides with nearly half a dozen teams for his 2013 campaign with over 70 races possible across multiple states and series.

Golobic comes into the season on the heels of a great finish to 2012 with winning the Ocean Sprints championship, winning the 101 lap Johnny Soares Classic Midget race at Petaluma, and a top-five in the return of the Turkey Night Grand Prix on dirt at Perris Auto Speedway.  He also landed the first-ever win for his car owner Steve Osborne en route to the Ocean crown.

The 21 year-old will slide over to the 2011 Ocean Sprints championship Keith Day Trucking #22 entry next season.  The team also plans to enter multiple ASCS and Civil War races including possibly the entire ASCS Northwest Speedweek.

“It felt really great to get Steve his first Ocean Sprints win as a car owner,” Golobic said.  “The opportunity to drive for Keith and Ronnie Day is incredible and I am confident we can win or be in contention win a lot of races this year.”

“I also am really excited to work with crew chief Rick Bragg,” Golobic added.  “I’m looking forward to learning from all the experience that Rick and Ronnie have in Sprint Car racing.”

He will also return to the prestigious Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, OK this January for Wilke-Pak Motorsports.  His teammates in the Wilke-Pak stable will include NASCAR Nationwide standout Cole Whitt and Indiana non-wing 410 standout Chase Stockon.

Golobic’s goal is to have a strong A Main performance and to hopefully parlay the opportunity into more Wilke-Pak drives throughout 2013.

“I am really looking forward to running the Chili Bowl with Wilke-Pak Motorsports,” Golobic said.  “Having great teammates like Cole and Chase makes me even more optimistic that we can have a good showing!  It takes all the help you can get to run well against the competition that the Chili Bowl offers.”

Golobic will also run select USAC and BCRA Midget races in Doug Bocks #26 in 2013 including tentative plans to compete in the Louie Vermeil Classic at Calistoga Speedway.

Returning to the Joe Vonschriltz #121, Golobic will drive that entry in a limited schedule of major 410 races across the West Coast including several King of the West and World of Outlaws events planned.
