The past week of racing has seen a mixture of results for Danny Reidy at his home track, Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway.

Reidy’s first race meeting of 2013, on January 1 at Archerfield Speedway for the eighth round of the KRE Series and the third night of the USA race meetings, was a tough one. He was running well inside the top 10 after starting in the middle of the field due to the top-14 drivers on points in the field being inverted, but a late-race spin hampered his result: 11th. Earlier in the night, he had recorded the sixth fastest lap in qualifying, then drove forward in both of his heat races to finish fourth and third respectively and started fifth in the Dash and finished there.

Four nights later, Reidy and his team returned to Archerfield Speedway to contest in the two-night Australian Open which was also the sixth round of the World Series Sprintcar Championship. On the opening night, he qualified 12th in time trials and then made good progress in two out of his three heat races and qualified seventh for the 20-lap preliminary feature race. A spin just before the half-way mark of the feature race while running strongly inside the top 10, resulted in Reidy failing to finish, due to damage sustained after contact with a rival car during the spin.

The second and final night of the Australian Open saw Reidy finish fifth in fourth and final heat race and that placed him into the mid-pack scramble race, which decided the starting positions seven through to 14. He ended up starting and finishing in seventh. Via his mid-pack scramble result, he started from position 13 in the feature race. In what was a tough run, he struggled to move forward in the 50-lap event and ran 12th.

Tonight (January 8) will contest the $10,000 to win Capalaba Cup at Archerfield Speedway and then the prestigious Australian Title at the same track this Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs, Camden Neon Signs, P&M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines for all of their 2012-13 season support.
