Hopes of a top-five finish in last weekend’s Australian Sprintcar Title at Archerfield Speedway for Danny Reidy came to an end in the opening laps of the feature race on the final night, and spoiled what was otherwise a strong run.

Reidy had qualified sixth in the Australian Title deciding feature race, but a spin, where he lucky not to be collected by of the drivers following spin, on the second lap of the 40-lap event saw him sent to the rear of the field. Despite his best efforts from the back of the field, the dejected driver ended up finishing in 15th – one lap down on the leader.

Apart from the feature race disappointment, Reidy had driven strongly throughout the weekend. On the opening night, he qualified second in time trials, finished he three heat races with a pair of fourth – place finishes and a sixth, and then in the preliminary feature race he had qualified fifth and finished in that position. For the third and final night, he finished his the final heat race in fourth and went on to record the sixth fastest lap in the top-8 pole shootout which gave him his feature race starting position.

Last Tuesday night at Archerfield Speedway, Reidy competed in the Capalaba Cup and came home with a fifth–place finish after starting from deep in the field – position 14. Reidy’s lowly feature race starting position was due to ending up 20th in time trials. He fought his way back in the heat races to finish with a win and a second aboard the NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs supported J&J.

This Friday and Saturday night (January 18 and 19), Reidy will travel interstate for the first time this season to contest the seventh round of the World Series Sprintcar Championship at Sydney Speedway (NSW).

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort – Alice Springs, Camden Neon Signs, P&M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines for all of their 2012–13 season support.
